A Visit from Trudy

I am enjoying a visit with my old friend, Trudy Woszczyk. She arrived on Monday, and will be joined by her husband, Wiesiek, on Saturday. They live in Montreal, so a trip to Mexico at this time of the year is a great thing. It has also been a great thing to spend some time with Trudy. She and I have been friends since 1969, when she moved to Nashville from San Francisco. She moved back to San Francisco in l972, but we have stayed in touch over the years, and have had visits from time to time. Since I am in a new place, with new friends, it is great to touch base with someone who has known me for a very long time.

Trudy was a teacher of history and ethics for most of her work life. She retired a couple of years ago and has a new interest that I think is pretty cool. She started learning about Soul Motion™, a form of movement that involves dancing free-form, literally from your soul. I love to see someone with a passion, and Trudy definitely has a passion for this. She has traveled to California, Washington State, Oregon, and Germany to attend workshops and learn more, and now she leads a group in Montreal that meets to dance once a week. I would imagine that the people who meet with her to dance are inspired by her. I have always thought that Trudy was one of the most amazing people I have ever known, and as the years have passed, she certainly has retained her wonderfulness. It is a joy to watch her freedom as she moves in her dance. We played around yesterday and as she danced in our hallway, I took pictures. It was a lot of fun, and great to see that Trudy really hasn’t changed at all.  Still the same free spirit. Still the same amazingly beautiful person.
